DAIRY NEWS – Today’s dairy executives are often faced with a whirlwind of circumstances that require quick decisions and communication. A solid business acumen combined with understanding of global economic conditions and industry trends provide a strong foundation to lead during even the most challenging times. The 2024 Managers Academy for Dairy Professionals® presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), will position dairy leaders to balance accelerated consolidation, consumer trends and their dairy’s bottom line.

The three-day, executive-level program will be held January 9-11, 2024, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, combining networking and tour experiences with world-class training programs for dairy owners, managers, CEOs, industry directors, processors, marketers and distributors. Executives will learn from facilitators Jacob Shapiro, Jason Karszes and Dr. Richard Kyte, and out-of-industry tours of the Tietje Crawfish Farm, South La Rail Rice Mill, Marucci, and Fluker Farms.

Registration is currently open, with a special discounted hotel rate at The Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center available through Dec. 26, 2023.

“We have always been impressed with Managers Academy because you not only get to rub shoulders with a lot of good dairy people, you get a first-class educational experience to go with it,” said Jeremy Natzke, dairy producer and owner, Wayside Dairy, Greenleaf, Wis. “I have never been disappointed with the high-class level of learning that Managers Academy brings.”

Jacob Shapiro, director of geopolitical analysis at New Orleans-based Cognitive Investments, and a noted speaker, consultant and author, will identify the key geopolitical forces expected to shape the next five years and how they’ll impact dairy businesses at every level. He’ll also address how evolving energy sources and using data in smarter, more automated ways will impact productivity across the food chain.

Jason Karszes, dairy farm management specialist with the PRO-DAIRY Program at Cornell University, will highlight the practices performed by the top 20% of dairy producers to consistently achieve business success.  He’ll showcase how executives keep systems lean, efficient and performing at their best and will provide practical strategies to attendees for immediate implementation.

Dr. Richard Kyte, PhD, endowed professor at Viterbo University, will weave together all the session’s learnings with strategies to increase employee engagement, retention and productivity. He’ll outline how to motivate and empower middle managers to lead more confidently and analyze how quickly changing technologies and artificial intelligence can impact teams.

A full day of out-of-industry tours will provide networking and insights into how companies in other industries developed innovative solutions to their business challenges. Behind-the-scenes tours and conversations will provide attendees with a new perspective on their own business opportunities.
