Wisconsin Ag Connection - February 27, 2013
The political action arm of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation has announced its endorsement for the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election on April 2. The Volunteers for Agriculture Committee is supporting Justice Pat Roggensack for reelection.
Terry Papcke, a Walworth County dairy farmer and chairman of the Volunteers for Agriculture Committee, says Roggensack displays a strong track record on key farm issues.
"As a Supreme Court Justice she ruled in favor of farmers in high-stakes cases involving Wisconsin's right to farm and livestock siting laws," Papcke says. "As an appellate judge she also sided with farm families when use value assessment of farmland was challenged."
The committee is made up of 18 farmers from across the state. The purpose of the Volunteers for Agriculture panel is to give farmers a more direct role in electing leaders who best represent agriculture's interests.
