ABS Global Partners with Geno Global to Access New Products
Wisconsin Ag Connection - February 08, 2010

The DeForest-based ABS Global has announce it has formed a partnership with Geno Global, in which will be a distributor of Geno's Norwegian Red semen in North America. The addition of the Norwegian Red breed to the ABS product line complements ABS' breed-leading Holstein and Jersey offering and gives producers the opportunity to take advantage of rotational crossbreeding with Holstein, Jersey and Norwegian Red sires--all available from ABS.

With the recommendation of rotational crossbreeding of Holstein, Jersey and Norwegian Red, ABS will be distributing Norwegian Red semen under the new Crossbreeding Management System program.

"Many dairy farmers have mated their Holstein cows to Jersey sires for reduced dystocia and improved reproduction. Through CMS, ABS offers an ideal mating for F1 crossbred Jersey x Holstein females," stated Todd Kronberg, ABS Director of North American Dairy Product Development and Strategic Marketing.

Gary Rogers of Geno Global says Norwegian Red sires will substantially improve reproductive performance, health and fitness, calving ability and production traits while maintaining a medium-sized cow that works well in commercial environments.

Initially, ABS will be marketing five proven Norwegian Red sires with plans to expand the product offering over time.
