2018 Managers Academy to Provide Behind the Scenes Look at Disney Magic
PDPW’s Executive Education Program to Feature Tours of Disney Park and Orlando Easterly Wetlands

DAIRY NEWS – Two unique, behind-the-scenes tours at the 2018 Managers Academy for Dairy Professionals™ presented by the Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) will give dairy owners, managers and industry professionals a new perspective on managing their teams and approaching business challenges.

The tours will be part of the three-day executive education program to be held Jan. 16-18 in Orlando, Florida.  The program will be led by world-class trainers including former Executive Vice President of Operations for Walt Disney World, Lee Cockerell, and Dr. David Kohl, Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech, President of AgriVisions, LLC, and a part-owner of Homestead Creamery in Virginia.

“We are excited to give Managers Academy attendees exclusive access to two opportunities they can only see in the Orlando area, and will give them new insights to bring some of the “Disney Magic” home to their dairy operations,” said Shelly Mayer, Executive Director of PDPW.

The tours will be held on the second day of the program and feature:

  • A half-day tour of Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom led by Lee Cockerell. In the parks, attendees will meet and interview Disney cast members to see firsthand the training, culture, protocols and systems that make Disney World legendary.Attendees will team up to learn how the park’s thousands of cast members are trained to leave a bad day behind, focus on customers and work through challenging situations.

  • A half-day tour of the Orlando Easterly Wetlands, a unique manmade habitat created by the City of Orlando. The project began in the mid-1980s when the city had limited options to increase permitted treatment capacity and recognized that aquatic ecosystems can be used to naturally remove nitrogen and phosphorous. The city created earthen berms, planted more than 2.1 million aquatic plants as part of the wetland area.Attendees will tour the Iron Bridge Regional Water Reclamation facility, learn about sewage treatment, and even see alligators and other animals thriving in the wetlands area. The project has proved to the world that large-scale, created wetlands can be used on a long-term basis with resounding success.
